Eyes on Manila, Shoulder to the Plow
We are halfway through a busy summer and at 10% of our monthly goal!
Thank you to all of our Gospel Partners!

It's about praying!
We know that God will be faithful and get us to Manila.  He will use churches and families and financial partners.  We are convinced that prayer is central to this process.  We have a Care Team at our church, Open Bible, that is committed to praying for our family and the Filipino people.  We also have a larger prayer team that you can be a part of.  You can join us in prayer and read about our lives and Manila on our Facebook group here.
 Please pray for us!
  • Faith - this is a gift from God. Pray that we will be so overwhelmed by his faithfulness and power that we will walk in the Spirit and live fully trusting God.
  • Financial Support - We must be at 75% of our goal by January so that we can go to pre-field training.
  • That we will be diligent and not grow weary or lazy
  • Dan's trip to Mexico - The training of future leaders, discipleship for the youth & other team members, anxiety over traveling to Chiapas alone, Encouragement for Hector & Gloria, Heidi & Isaac at home - missing Dan & Mexico friends
  • That God will provide us with opportunities to reach lost people here through this process.
  • That many Filipinos will call on the name of Christ.
  • That we will be able to sell or give away all that we have here.
It's about meeting people!
Here are some ways we've shared with people.
We need you to help us share more!
  • Presented at a small group in someone's home
  • Been the featured speaker at a concert
  • Presented at a men's prayer breakfast
  • Hung out at cook-outs and family events
  • Spoke at a minor league baseball game
  • Set-up a table at a cultural festival in a retirement village
  • Speakers at a young adult's group meeting
  • Please post about us on our Facebook group and share with your Facebook friends
No event or group is too big or too small.  We want to share with people you know about what God is doing in our lives.  Our Gospel Partners are out there and you can help us find them!
The Philippines is unique country with a diverse and interesting culture.  Our team is there working hard and waiting for us to join them.
We need you to send us!
It's about Gospel Partners!
Please consider being a Gospel Partner.
Our partners find it easy to give electronically and have been supporting our ministry from $25 to $250 or more per month.
We are also accepting church sponsorships and one-time special gifts.
You can find out more about giving here.

PAKBET (pawk-BET)

Ingredients
* 2 cups raw pumpkin or “kalabasa” (round Asian pumpkin) or any kind or orange /yellow squash, cut into 1x1x1 inch chunks.
* 2 cups long string beans cut into 1-inch lengths
* 2 cups okra, cut on an angle into 1 to 1.5-inch lengths
* ½ cup ground beef, cooked.
* Garlic (1/4 cup diced or to taste), ginger ¼ cup diced or to taste), green onions: 1 to 2 cups of 1-inch pieces.
* ¼ to 1/2 t chicken or beef bouillon cube
* A dash of salt – not much, as low-sodium is best.
* 1 cup room temp water with 1 heaping T of corn starch.

Procedure
1.  Sauté the garlic and ginger in oil.
2.  Add 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
3.  Put in the SQUASH and OKRA first (takes longest to cook). Stir for 3 min or so.
4.  Put in the beans, cook until all the vegetables are cooked but still firm, continuously stirring.
5. Add in the ground beef (already cooked) and the green onions along with cornstarch solution; stir until cornstarch thickens.
6.  Immediately remove from the pot and place in a bowl, even if you don’t serve it right away, to avoid overcooking. Serve with steamed rice.

Isaac's Insights

This is a spot where you can look forward to hearing from updates from Isaac.  He is looking forward to adventure in the Philippines, but is a little nervous.  Isaac is glad to know so many people care about him and are praying for him!

Isaac has been reading a lot this summer and finished a book over 400 pages long!  He is enjoying time with friends and family and was made an honorary member of Jedi Saber Combat.

Isaac is concerned about the heat in Manila and will miss his dog, Mrs. Amy Charmichael.  Please keep him in your prayers.
7th and final year for
Isaac's Star Wars/OI event.
